CAD-Duct provides the necessary tools to accurately detail & co-ordinate all types of Ductwork system including Commercial HVAC, Dust Extraction, Clean Room, Blowpipe, and Heavy Industrial All-Welded in a 3-Dimensional modeling environment.
Detailing in CAD-Duct couldn't be simpler thanks to the variety of options on offer, including:

  • Automatically route duct along centerlines.
  • Auto-Fill in drag mode permitting changes in level/elevation, duct size & section.
  • Auto-Fill between existing pre-positioned items, including runs at different levels.
For round Duct this includes automatic positioning of rolling elbows.
  • Auto-Attach part-by-part for close co-ordination work.
  • Stretch existing parts to lengthen/shorten runs.
  • Cut-In to existing runs with Tees and Branches.

Once inserted in the model, all items can be manipulated using standard AutoCAD commands to move, copy, rotate and even stretch them.

Fitting Libraries
CAD-Duct includes the most extensive libraries of rectangular, round and oval ductwork fittings available, all of which are fully parametric 3D solid objects. A comprehensive range of equipment items (dampers, grilles, silencers, etc.) complements the duct libraries. Together they provide the user with the scope and flexibility to model systems as required. Whether working in a relatively simple ‘open’ environment such as a sports hall or a highly congested plant room, CAD-Duct has the parts to fit the job. System design need never again be compromised by a limited selection of fittings.
For ‘OEM’ ranges of standard sized components i.e. round duct fittings, CAD-Duct includes pre-configured product lists for such items.
Customisation & Flexibility
One of the many exceptional features of the fittings within CAD-Duct is the ability to customise and even expand the libraries to your way of working. CAD-Duct is delivered with pre-configured libraries that the user can then personalise.
Any fitting within CAD-Duct can be duplicated, using Copy & Paste commands, and then be modified to suit.
For example: Start with a standard fully parametric Radius Elbow, which will draw to any angle, and create a range of Elbows at preset angles i.e. 30, 45, 60 & 90 degrees.
Comprehensive Database

At the heart of CAD-Duct lies a comprehensive database that enables configuration of all relevant parameters as well as options for controlling the operation of the program. For Ductwork this includes details of material types, connectors, stiffeners, air turning vanes, specification/pressure classes, etc. to be used. From a CAD perspective this defines how they will be represented on the model. For example: A connector might show extension lines protruding from either side of the duct as well as defining the thickness of gasket to be used.

Specification (Pressure Class) Driven
Detailing in CAD-Duct is specification, or pressure class, driven to simplify the task in hand by automating the selection of key parameters. For HVAC Ductwork, CAD-Duct is delivered with specifications tables pre-configured to common standards i.e. SMACNA, DW144, etc. and the user can also create their own custom job specifications.
The active specification determines the selection of ‘standard’ straight duct length, gauge, connectors, seams, stiffeners, supports, air turning vanes, etc. according to the size of duct being drawn. The user also has complete flexibility in overriding the specification if required.

Integration for Production
The fittings within CAD-Duct are much more than just CAD models; they are all based on production items that have the ability to generate flat sheet developments and report all relevant production information.

When interfacing with CAM-Duct for manufacturing or EST-Duct for costing there is no conversion involved, just a seamless transfer of data from one program to the other. True integration.
