NavisWorks JetStream v5 Roamer + JetStream v5 RVM Reader adds the ability for JetStream Roamer to load .RVM and associated RVS files generated by AVEVA's PDMS (Plant Design Management System) product.
The JetStream RVM Reader can read both binary and ASCII .rvm files exported from AVEVA's PDMS™ product. Attribute files are supported, output using either the "Dump Attributes" or "Datal" (also called "OUTPUT") formats, with the file extensions .att, .attrib and .txt. RVS files are also supported.
The JetStream RVM Reader requires a separate RVM Reader license. If this is not present, the RVM Reader will not be available for use.

Supported Entities

  • All geometry
  • Attributes stored on groups
  • Textures (via RVS file)
  • Cameras and camera tracks (via RVS file)
  • Clip planes (via RVS file)
  • Signs (via RVS file)
  • Tags (via RVS file)
  • Labels (via RVS file)
  • Translucency (via RVS file)

Unsupported Entities

  • Attributes stored on primitives
  • Lights
  • Object Animation
  • Smooth Animation
  • Groups
  • Autotags

The reader can look for RVS files with the same name as the RVM file in the same directory, as well as attribute files contained in a directory having the same name as the RVM file. As a default, attribute files with the extensions .ATT, .ATTRIB and .TXT are searched for automatically on loading an RVM file.
PDMS colours are also fully customisable within JetStream via a colour definition file. The RVM reader will automatically load a user colours.txt file when located in a standard JetStream search path directory

". PDMS" Object Property Export
The elements that make up a PDMS project are listed in the "Members" window, similar in form and function to the JetStream Selection Tree window. It contains a root element called the "world" (shown as a star "*") which is essentially treated as "everything" and sits alongside the other elements of the project, either containers (containing other elements) or model elements in the project (essentially objects or parts thereof). A "member" that is currently selected in this window is called the Current Entity (abbreviated to CE in PDMS).
